Mandatory Reporting for Churches [eBook]

Back in June, my church started up an intentional prayer team ministry that happens after the sermon while worship is still going on. The thought was we have many prayer needs and a place in the lobby called Next Steps for people to pray, but in the hustle of getting kids from nursery, saying goodbye to church friends, and off to the local diner for Sunday lunch, we were missing a lot of time to pray with people. So we kicked off the initiative with a training and recently launched.

But the pastors were very mindful of what we were offering. They asked me to talk about mandatory reporting for our volunteers that joined the prayer ministry. I wanted to come prepared and attempted to research some good curriculum and resources. What I found for churches was very, very little. What I did find cost a lot of money or was a decade old.

So I decided to make a resource that pastors could use in whatever ministry they are leading. That’s where the eBook Mandatory Reporting for Churches came in. This is not comprehensive training, though I do give many options that would be perfect for your church that is potentially free and a future resource if you need to refer someone to a counselor or are good as an on-demand option.

This resource is designed for a quick reference when a situation happens, training your volunteers, and reminding yourself of the process when asked. It also comes with free forms and a guide on how to customize it for your U.S. state. There are even quick tips on how your church may want to change some of your policies and workflows for mandated reporting.

Christian Counselors

This is your chance to step up. You have taken classes (Master’s level, additional CEUs, special training) on mandatory reporting. It’s part of the law, ethics, and agency policy when we come across it. We also plan to serve many congregation members of churches in our community. Why not offer them all a free training as a one hour offering to staff or volunteer and get the word out about your practice for referrals?

This eBook can be your quick guide resource for the training, give you forms to have the church use right away, and an easy guide to use. (My one request: contact me if you plan to use this for a training, because we want to make sure the church has their own purchased copy, separate from your own copy.
