Description
This license covers the entire church staff and congregation members of your church. It is not to be shared with outside organizations or entities that are not formally apart of your church.
The entirety of my life, mental health and faith have been proposed to me as an almost oil and water type model. Anxiety and depression were listed by my church elders as sin because you didn’t trust God enough. But to overcome it, you needed to pick yourself up by your own bootstraps and “just stop it.” Within counseling, there is this stigma that came out of an ethics rule and law of no proselytizing but has gone so far as to want to push any kind of faith and spirituality. Yet, one main expectation within a counseling session is to develop supports.
My proposal is that neither is true and instead you would find the heart of Jesus within Christians serving those who struggle to help themselves. Mental health symptoms are more an indication of brokenness than sin.
I do believe there is a fight to break mental health stigma within the Church, and culturally as well, and that the counselor and client’s faith can be one of the most useful tools for overcoming mental health problems in today’s environment. It is my belief that we must become aware of how this can be, and what better way to introduce this than via a devotional.
