We created a specific video to talk about mental health stigma as well as ways your church can fight stigma locally now. I feel like the last five years have been a big swing on the church’s stance with mental health and we still have a long way to go.
One powerful thing you can have is a testimony. Below is a former CBN staffer and her first hand account of struggling with mental health and substance use as a Christian. As the video describes, Arynn Andrews saw God as holding her back from having fun and immediately fell into drinking when she left for college. This path lead to depression and an attempted suicide at age 19. While institutionalized, a visiting medical student told her that she should return to reading her Bible every day. God used this simple act of spiritual consistency to reveal to Arynn that faith is a relationship and Jesus is the only one who can fix our brokenness.
