Finding good resources to help with counseling practices to improve mental health has grown easier over the last couple of years with phone applications like Headspace. Until recently, there were no Christian options for this. But let me introduce to you the Abide App.
The mission of Abide is states as “For the world to experience the peace of Christ through Biblical meditation.” Christian meditation is a practice from the Bible that has been refined for thousand of years. It connects and empowers our minds and hearts in Jesus. It helps us live with the peace and purpose of Christ.
At first glance, it looks like a Christian version of Headspace. It has the guided meditations that are foundationally Biblical with some free access as well as mostly everything behind a premium subscription paywall.
What Works For The App
To their credit, they have a full archive of topics that Christians who struggle with any mental health for shorter periods of time could use, including:
- Overcoming anxiety and worry
- Conquering depression
- Sleep
- Daily devotion
- Discovering purpose
- Finding happiness
- Addiction recovery
- Forgiveness
- Health concerns
- Books of the Bible
The mobile application also has a journal function for after a session is over, though it looks as if you have to keep everything in the app without a way to manually copy/paste it out.
There is also a sleep mode where they do an initial devotional and play soft music that you can limitedly customize to play while you fall asleep. It also plays in the background if you switch out of the Abide app to something else.
Their YouTube channel also has a full collection of what they offer on the app. Here’s a sampling:
I fully endorse this app and encourage you to go check it out for free.
